FORGING THE FUTURE

Forging the Future is an afterschool program that brings the art of metalsmithing to Title 1 high school students in Shelby County. Developed in partnership between the Metal Museum and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis, Forging the Future is dedicated to inspiring a new generation of metalsmiths in the city of Memphis. Led by our dedicated Metal Museum Staff, students will receive hands-on instruction in the art of metalsmithing, allowing them to explore their creativity and develop their skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

 

This program also offers an opportunity for students to gain valuable insights into the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.

Upon completing the program, students will have the chance to create, price, and sell their own unique pieces of metal art. They will also learn how to curate their work for an art gallery exhibit held on the museum grounds in the Spring, giving them a platform to showcase their talents to the community. Through Forging the Future, we are committed to helping students grow their skills, discover their passions, and achieve their goals.
